Montpellier Pharmacy Jar with the coat of arms of France - Early 18th Century - SOLD

Rare Montpellier earthenware Pharmacy Jar decorated in blue monochrome. The handle depicts a putti in the round holding a shield bearing the arms of France, three yellow fleurs-de-lis on a tortoiseshell background.

Decorated with a sign with the manganese inscription "M. Violatum." Against a lively landscape background. Note below the phylactery this small kneeling figure mowing grasses or violets? Flowers and insects on the neck and base.

Early 18th century.

H: 27.5 cm.

Excellent condition.

Formerly attributed to Marseille - Saint Jean du Désert.
